STATION VI: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
Jesus, dragging himself along the way of the cross, encounters St. Veronica in the crowd. She steps forward and tenderly removes her veil, wiping the spit, the sweat, and the blood from the face of her Lord. She publicly identified with Jesus-even to the point of putting herself in danger. But Veronica resolutely approached Jesus-she cared for him in the midst of his pain and anguish. St. Veronica opened herself up the pain of Jesus-and she stands today as an example to us as disciples of Jesus who are called to stand with our brothers and sisters in need. When we see others in pain or suffering, how do we reach out in love to those who need it most in the name of Jesus?
