July 23, 7th Sunday after Pentecost: In this parable of wheat and weeds, Jesus shares that the weeds and wheat co-exist until the end. What that means for us is this: Judgment Day is the time when God will sort through his people to decide their eternal fate. That’s powerfully good news for us disciples who are both saints and sinners, because we have more time-as Jesus says; “Let them grow…” We have more time to grow into the disciples God calls us to be. So in the meantime, let’s continue to serve God and share Christ’s love with all-and if we have times when we are more weed than wheat, or we know someone who is definitely weed, we can give thanks that God’s love and forgiveness can transform weeds into wheat in God’s field…thanks be to God!
