STATION VIII: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
The women of the city of Jerusalem, lining the way of the cross through the streets on the way to Calvary, are mourning Jesus’ death to come. But Jesus invites them instead to stand up and turn their sorrow into something more. He invites them, and us, to stand up against injustice, violence, poverty, and oppression-to not just lament and be sorry about it but to walk the walk of faith by doing what we can with what we have to make a difference in his name. How can we be agents of change so that those who are neglected, abused, or scorned find the peace of Christ they so desperately need?
