Temptation is a reality of the Christian life. For two reasons, really-first Satan-evil- doesn’t want us to succeed at being God’s people-so, the Devil does what he can to plant doubt and fear and the things that separate us from God within us. Second, and this is the more sticky one-God wants us to choose him freely-loving him as we love others. He wants us to freely choose to follow him and love him by loving others-and that means God takes a risk because as human beings, people who often choose OUR way instead of God’s way, it can go either way. It requires a choice for us-something for us to believe in-taking a side. So as we begin this Lenten journey-whose side are YOU on?
